About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Nurse Manager opening for the Medical Surgical unit at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX.

This isn't just another box on an org chart. You're the one who makes sure the floor runs, day in and day out. You're accountable for staffing, managing the team, and overseeing patient care 24/7. It's about building a unit that works well and takes care of its people while hitting those critical quality and safety marks everyone talks about.

What you'll be doing

  • Build and lead your team. That means interviewing, training, developing staff, and handling the tough people stuff; performance reviews, problem solving, keeping everyone motivated.
  • You own the staffing plan. You'll adjust it based on how many patients are here and how sick they are to make sure care is delivered safely.
  • The buck stops with you for patient care on your unit. You'll plan, organize, and direct everything to meet internal standards and external ones from groups like The Joint Commission.
  • You're responsible for meeting the unit's productivity targets.

What you need to bring

First things first: you need a current Texas RN license.

  • For education, an Associate Degree in Nursing or an RN Diploma is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • On the experience side, we need at least 1 year of applicable experience. Three or more years is what we'd prefer to see.
  • An equivalent combo of your education and experience will be considered too.

The schedule & pay

This is a full time position. You're on point for your unit around the clock, so expect a schedule that reflects that 24/7 responsibility.

The pay range for this role starts at $48.62 per hour. Your exact rate will depend on your years of experience and qualifications.

They're also home to the world's largest robotics program. It's a place that does big things.
