About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Nuclear Medicine RN role at Methodist Hospital Northeast in San Antonio, TX. I've been placing people here for years, and they run a tight ship. They need someone who gets that nuclear medicine isn't just about the tech; it's about the person in front of you.

The Work

You're the consistent point of contact for patients undergoing nuclear medicine procedures. Your shift starts with an assessment, and you own that patient's status until you hand off. If something changes, you're the one catching it and making the call.

  • Administer medications as ordered and monitor for therapeutic response. You need to know what to do if that response isn't what everyone expected.
  • A big part of this is teaching. You'll break down complex medical info about conditions, treatment plans, and meds; including potential side effects; so patients and their families actually understand what's happening.
  • Your documentation has to be thorough. Every procedure, every monitoring action gets recorded in the patient's record clearly and promptly.
  • Anticipate needs before they're voiced. It’s about resolving issues proactively and responding without delay when patients ask for something.

What You Need to Bring

They're pretty specific on credentials here. No wiggle room.

  • You must be a Registered Nurse (RN). An Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or a Nursing Diploma will get you in the door.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required. You have to get it within your first 30 days if you don't have it coming in.

The Hospital & The Support

Methodist Northeast is a 232 bed full service hospital. They've built some serious programs there. They're home to a Joint Replacement Academy for knee and hip treatment, a comprehensive neurosurgical program for everything from elective spine to advanced brain care, and they hold some notable accreditations: an American Heart Association Certified Primary Stroke Center, an American College of Cardiology Accredited Chest Pain Center, and an American Nurses Credentialing Center Pathway to Excellence designation. They also got a Mission: Lifeline Bronze Award for quality improvements in emergency cardiac care.

The benefits package is… extensive. Honestly, one of the more robust ones I've seen from a large system.

  • Medical plans cover many common services with low or no copay; includes prescription drug, behavioral health, free telemedicine, and free AirMed transport.
  • You can add dental and vision.
  • There's life insurance, disability coverage, and flexible spending accounts.
  • A whole suite of supplemental plans: accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity protection.
  • Discounts and services for auto insurance, home insurance, identity theft protection, legal counseling, long term care coverage, moving assistance; even pet insurance.
  • Free counseling services for emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing are available.
  • The 401(k) plan matches 100% on 3% to 9% of your pay (the match percentage depends on your years of service).
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan lets you buy HCA stock at a 10% discount.
  • Family support includes fertility/family building benefits through Progyny and adoption assistance.
  • A referral service can help find child care or elder care; it also covers things like home/auto repair and event planning.
