About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this MRI Tech PRN spot at Methodist Hospital Metropolitan in San Antonio, TX. This isn't your standard staff tech role; you're stepping into a lead position. You'll be the one keeping the MRI department running smoothly, which means supervising people and processes just as much as running the scanners.

What You'll Be Doing

You're in charge of the day to day in the imaging section. That means managing the team's schedule to make sure we're staffed properly and efficiently. You'll handle performance reviews, help motivate the crew, and be involved in the whole hiring process from interviews to training new folks.

The technical side is crucial, of course. You need to be an expert with our MRI systems; that includes power injectors, patient positioning, and knowing all the procedures inside and out. A big part of the job is keeping things moving: getting patients started on time, minimizing room turnaround, and adapting quickly when things get busy.

You'll also manage our equipment. We need you to keep a clean, well stocked area and maintain solid service records. You’ll coordinate with vendors to schedule preventive maintenance and handle any emergency repairs without messing up patient care.

What You Need to Bring

  • A graduate of an accredited MRI school.
  • Four years of hands on MRI experience is required.
  • Your ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification is mandatory.
  • You must have a current Texas Medical Board License.
  • BLS certification from the American Red Cross is also required.

An Associate's degree or higher in Science is a nice bonus, but it isn't a dealbreaker if you don't have it. Same goes for having an ARRT (MR) specifically; it's preferred but not mandatory for applying. If you've got a year of leadership, supervisory, or management experience under your belt, that's a definite plus for this role.

The Schedule & Other Details

This is a PRN position. You'll complete all the necessary initial and ongoing training for our specific patient population. The work involves problem solving independently while also being a solid team member who can interact professionally with everyone from co workers and supervisors to patients and vendors.

A couple of specific notes about the role: you may handle radiopharmaceuticals and contrast agents. Sometimes you might need to physically witness or inventory controlled substances with another authorized person. And you're expected to stay current by integrating new tech and science into your work, helping train new employees and students, and completing your yearly job skills competencies during work hours.
