About This Role
The job in a nutshell
You'll work at Aquatica San Antonio as a Lifeguard, and you'll be the person guests rely on to stay safe while they're having fun. There are three levels here, depending on the depth of water you're assigned to: Aquatic Attraction Lifeguard (0–3 ft.), Shallow Water Lifeguard (0–5 ft.), and Lifeguard (0–6 ft. +). The base pay for each level is $10.50/hr, $11.50/hr, and $13.00/hr respectively. No experience? Not a problem. On the job training is available. But you do have to pass a swim test ; you'll pick a date and time for that during the application process.
What you'll actually do
- Keep an eye on swimmers and guests on water attractions of varying depths ; your maximum assigned depth depends on your certification level.
- Dispatch waterslides and monitor the area for safety.
- Prevent emergencies and respond if someone's in distress.
- Greet guests, answer questions, and resolve any issues that come up.
- Stay sharp on park knowledge, water rescue, CPR/AED, and First Aid ; you'll attend regular in service training and audits.
- Keep the waterpark and support areas clean and in good shape.
- Use personal protective equipment and report unsafe situations before they become problems.
- Work with the team to help things run smoothly and give guests excellent service.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor throughout your shift.
What you need to bring
- You're at least 16 years old.
- You can work a flexible schedule ; that means weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- You're comfortable standing and walking in extreme weather for extended periods.
- You can pass one of the three pre requisite Swim Tests (0–3 ft., 0–5 ft., or 0–6 ft. +).
- You can get an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer certification plus one of these lifeguarding certifications: Aquatic Attraction Lifeguard, Shallow Water Guard, or Lifeguard (0–6 ft. +).
- You communicate well and can work with all kinds of people.
- You're willing to work as part of a team and multitask while keeping a positive attitude.
- You'll follow SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards.
- You can complete all legal, company, and department training ; including passing tests and certifications within set timelines.
- You know how to stay calm, spot problems, and make quick decisions under pressure.
