About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Home Health RN position with Methodist Healthcare at Home in San Antonio, TX. I've been placing nurses here for a while, and they run a solid operation. This isn't about filling a slot; it's about finding the right nurse who gets that home care is a different kind of nursing. You're the guest in someone's space, building trust from the first visit.
What you'll be doing
You're the primary nurse for your patients. That means you own the assessment, the plan, and making sure everyone on the team is on the same page.
- Complete start of care and recertification assessments, including the OASIS documentation.
- Your clinical notes need to paint a clear picture: what you saw, what you did, and how the patient is progressing toward their goals.
- When something changes with a patient, you're communicating that to the Clinical Manager and the physician without delay.
- Supervising home health aides and LPNs is part of the job; you'll provide the clinical direction they need.
- The role includes taking part in a scheduled on call rotation for after hours emergencies.
What you need to bring
The non negotiables are pretty straightforward. They need someone who can walk in ready to handle the caseload.
- A Registered Nurse Diploma and an active RN license.
- A valid driver's license. You'll be driving to patient homes.
- At least one year of nursing experience. Home health experience is a huge plus, but they'll consider other acute care backgrounds if you're adaptable.
The schedule & pay
This is a full time position. You'll manage your daily patient schedule, but expect standard day shift hours, Monday through Friday. The on call rotation does come into play periodically. As for pay, they offer an hourly rate that's structured with differentials for things like on call duty. We can discuss the specific range based on your experience when we talk.
Benefits they offer
Methodist is part of HCA Healthcare, so the benefits package is comprehensive. It's one of the stronger ones I've seen.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage starting day one.
- A 401(k) with a match: they'll match 100% of what you put in, from 3% up to 9% of your pay, depending on how long you've been there.
- Paid time off that covers vacation, holidays, and sick days all in one bank.
- Tuition assistance and student loan repayment support are available if you want to go back to school.
- They also have things like adoption assistance, fertility benefits, and even backup child/elder care referrals.
A bit about Methodist Healthcare at Home
They're Medicare certified and operate as a service line within HCA Healthcare. The team is built around an interdisciplinary model; RNs, therapists, social workers; all collaborating on patient plans. The focus is on getting patients restored and independent in their own homes. It's a team that tends to stick together because they support each other; it has that feel.
