About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Ulta Beauty store in San Antonio, TX. I'm looking for a General Manager to run the whole show. This isn't just about being in charge; it's about building a team that gets genuinely excited about beauty and delivers an experience that keeps people coming back.
The Role
You're the leader of the entire store, including the salon. Your job is to build a high performing team that drives sales growth. It comes down to three things: performance, people, and process.
- You own the store's results. That means hitting goals for retail sales, service sales, guest loyalty programs like credit, managing payroll budgets, online to store sales (omni channel), and minimizing loss (shrink).
- Profitability is key. You'll achieve it through operational excellence, growing sales, and controlling expenses.
- Use our tools to build schedules that maximize productivity and stay within budget while getting all the work done.
- When you see an issue in a financial report or from a store audit, you address it head on to keep things profitable.
- Jump in on the floor sometimes. Do a makeup application, a skincare analysis, or demo products. It drives sales and shows your team how it's done.
- Make it your business to know what's new and trending in beauty; the products, services, ingredients; so you can serve guests better.
- You've got to be here reliably. And you'll ensure your team follows our attendance policy too.
The People Part
This might be the most important piece. You set the tone for everyone who walks through the door.
- Your first task is building your team: attract great people, hire them, and work to keep them.
- If there are policy issues, you'll partner with your District Manager and our People Success team to handle corrective action fairly.
- Create an environment where people actually want to work. Think collaboration, honest communication, and clear priorities.
- Build inclusivity. Inspire your associates and keep them engaged in their work.
- Develop your managers and team constantly. That means training, one on one coaching based on their skills (competency based feedback), writing performance reviews, planning for who moves up next (succession planning), and creating individual development plans.
- You don't get to stop learning either. Participate in ongoing training yourself; on brands, categories; to grow professionally and help drive those sales numbers.
- Make sure your direct reports are doing their training too.
- Share the company's bigger strategy with your team so everyone understands how their work fits in. Then create local goals that support those bigger ones.
- Tear down walls between management roles by working alongside them setting clear direction together as one unit promoting teamwork above all else.
