Endoscopy RN

The Gist

Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant needs an Endoscopy RN for a PRN role in San Antonio, TX. You'll usually work two shifts a week. There's also call availability once a month on weekends and during the week as needed. When you're on call, you have to be able to report within 30 minutes.

Schedule & Call

Scheduling is self preferential and posted four weeks out, so you get some predictability. On call is required during select non business hours. It's not every shift, but it's part of the deal.

What You'll Do

• Evaluate patients before surgery.
• Educate patients and their families about the procedure and peri operative process.
• Handle patient preparation: intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols following hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies when they happen.
• Deliver patient centered care while managing evidence based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, and others.
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care.
• Assess patient condition throughout your shift. Document changes thoroughly along with the care provided.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and follow up measures.

What You Need

• A Registered Nurse license or diploma. Or an Associate Degree in Nursing. Or a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Any of these works.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification ; must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification ; must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
