
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this driving job in San Antonio, TX. It's not a local route where you're home every night. You'd be running overnight deliveries, dispatched Sunday through Friday. You'll typically run 3 to 4 routes a week.
What the Job Is
You're transporting food service products from our warehouse to customer locations. The core of it is safe driving and making sure the delivery is right. You'll unload the product yourself using a handcart down a side ramp; it's physical work in all kinds of weather. Part of the deal is picking up any returns or damaged goods to bring back.
- Safely drive a tractor trailer on your assigned route, day or night, in various traffic and weather conditions.
- Unload product by hand or handcart, placing it exactly where the customer wants it.
- Handle frozen, dry, and refrigerated items, following all food safety rules to keep everything at the right temperature and prevent contamination.
- Complete all your paperwork accurately and on time. That includes DOT logs, vehicle inspection reports, and daily invoices.
- Keep your tractor and trailer clean and report any maintenance issues.
- Communicate clearly with customers and let dispatch know about any route delays or problems with the load.
- Operate all equipment safely, including the truck, onboard computer, and handcart.
The Schedule & Pay
The schedule is overnight deliveries, Sunday to Friday dispatch. You're looking at 3 4 routes per week. The pay range for this role is $75k - $85k per year with an earning potential of up to $100k. You get paid weekly.
What You Need to Have
A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License is mandatory. You also must be insurable as a driver. For experience: a high school diploma or GED plus one year of tractor trailer driving experience is preferred. If you've completed a tractor trailer driving school, that can count instead of or in addition to the high school requirement. You need to be able to read, speak, and understand English well enough to talk with the public, understand road signs, complete official reports, and follow safety regulations. You should know DOT rules and safe lifting practices. Being able to solve problems on the route is important.
