CT Technologist
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this CT Tech opening at South Texas Radiology Imaging Centers in San Antonio, TX. I've been placing folks here for a while, and they run a solid operation. They need someone who knows their way around a CT scanner inside and out.
What You'd Be Doing
You're the person running the show in the CT suite. That means you'll be performing all the diagnostic procedures, making sure every image is as clear as it can be while keeping radiation exposure as low as possible. You'll follow established protocols, radiologist preferences, and ACR guidelines for every exam.
A big part of your day is patient care. You'll be interpreting information to meet the needs of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. You'll get proper consent from patients regarding metals and contrast, and you'll gather their surgical history before starting. If a patient already has an IV line, you'll take care of it; under a physician's direction, you may also administer specific contrast injections.
- Operating all the CT equipment safely to minimize hazards.
- Managing digital images and prepping rooms for procedures.
- Documenting everything in the information systems right after a procedure is done.
- Following departmental policies for documenting any STAT reads.
- Keeping your area spotless; following disinfection rules, restocking supplies, cleaning your work area at the end of each shift.
- Making sure you have what you need for the daily schedule and letting your supervisor know if anything's running low.
- Following all ACR quality control requirements and internal policies.
The Specifics They Need
The baseline requirement is pretty straightforward on paper, but they really want someone who's already proven themselves in this specialty.
- Education: You need one of these: be a graduate of an accredited radiology technology program OR hold an Associate's degree or higher.
- License/Certification: This one's non negotiable: you must have your CMRT (Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist) from the Texas Medical Board.
- The Ideal Candidate: They'd love someone with about two years of experience specifically as a CT Technologist. An Associate Degree in Radiology Technology is preferred. Having your ARRT registry in the CT modality would also put you ahead of the pack.
