Job Overview
This Corporate Trainer role is about building skills and confidence across an organization. Duties & Responsibilities
- Create training materials from scratch; think participant guides, quick reference sheets, and slide decks that people actually want to use.
- Lead engaging sessions for groups of all sizes, both in person at the San Antonio, TX office and through virtual platforms.
- Work directly with department heads to pinpoint skill gaps and develop targeted learning paths to close them.
- Track how well training works. You'll follow up with managers, check on application of skills, and tweak your approach based on what you hear.
- Manage the logistics for your programs, from booking rooms to coordinating schedules across different teams.
Requirements
- A few years spent specifically in a training or instructional design role. You know how adults learn.
- The ability to take complex information and make it simple without losing the important details.
- Comfort presenting to a room of skeptical engineers one day and a virtual cohort of new hires the next.
- A relevant bachelor's degree or a professional certification in training and development is a plus.
- This job involves standing for long periods during workshops and managing multiple projects at once. It’s mentally engaging work.
What It's Like In This Role
You're often the bridge between departments. One week you're embedded with the sales team, the next you're helping IT roll out a new system. Most days are split between preparing content alone and being "on stage" facilitating. You'll use standard authoring tools like Articulate or Captivate, along with the company's LMS. Expect a full schedule; there's always a new initiative needing training support; but you have control over how you structure your prep time.
