About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this role. It's not a bedside nursing gig; it's the engine room for quality and safety in the cardiology service line at Methodist Hospital Northeast in San Antonio, TX. You're the person who takes all that clinical data and turns it into action.
What you'll be doing
You'll coordinate performance improvement for the cardiovascular service line. That means you're tracking how things are going, finding where they can be better, and leading the charge to make those improvements happen. Your work directly supports the hospital's mission and strategic goals.
- Measure, analyze, and present reports on healthcare processes and patient outcomes to figure out what needs attention first.
- Coordinate improvement projects using specific benchmarks and evidence based practices. You'll also help evaluate whether those changes actually worked.
- Facilitate sentinel event investigations and root cause analyses to boost patient safety.
- Manage the peer review process when it's needed.
- Work with Risk Management to review any outside correspondence related to quality of care issues.
- Help keep the organization ready for regulatory reviews and surveys specific to cardiology services.
- A big part of this is education; you'll teach staff and physicians about performance improvement processes and patient safety initiatives.
The background we need
You have to be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing or medical school. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. On top of that, you need at least three years of clinical experience under your belt.
Experience in quality management, regulatory compliance, or TQM/CQI is a strong plus. For this specific Cardiovascular Coordinator role, we're really looking for someone with direct experience in a cardiology service line and hands on skill with data and registry management. You should be comfortable using word processing software, spreadsheets, clinical systems, and databases.
And like everyone here, you’ll complete initial and ongoing training specific to our patient population.
