Veterinary Technician

Foothill Farms Veterinary Hospital is expanding, and we need another experienced veterinary assistant on the nursing team. This isn't just a support role; you're central to how we care for patients and communicate with their people.

What you'll do here

You won't be stuck in one spot all day. Your time will split between running your own technician appointments and working directly with our doctors during exams and procedures.

• Assist with patient exams and treatments.
• Getting rooms and equipment ready for various procedures is part of the flow.
• A big part of the job is coordinating with your teammates to manage and follow through on veterinarian orders.

Schedule & pay

This is a full time position. You'd work five 8 hour shifts, scheduled from Sunday through Thursday.

The pay range is $21 to $23 per hour. The specific rate depends on factors like your relevant education, training, experience, and geographic location where the work is performed.

If you have three or more years of consecutive, current veterinary assistant experience, there's a $500 bonus package for you.

The skills and experience you'll need

We're looking for someone who already has a solid foundation in clinical veterinary work.

• A minimum of 3 years of hands on experience in a veterinary clinical setting is required.
• You need to be proficient in collecting vital signs and maintaining accurate medical records.
• Venipuncture and administering injections should be second nature.
• We need someone skilled in radiography technique and proper positioning.
• Processing samples in our in house laboratory is a regular duty.
• Familiarity with Cornerstone practice management software would be a huge help.

Having Fear Free certification is a definite plus, but it isn't mandatory to apply.

Foothill Farms Vet Hospital is built around providing a Fear Free experience for both pets and their owners. We see small animals and pocket pets, offering everything from general wellness and surgery to holistic services like acupuncture and Reiki. For more complex cases, including orthopedics, we collaborate closely with specialists.

The facility is well equipped, but the real strength is the team. It's a group of incredible people who genuinely love animals and the humans who bring them in. Our RVTs are utilized fully, and many of us are already Fear Free certified. We're located off Auburn Blvd in Sacramento, CA, about ten miles from downtown Sacramento.
