For three decades, Foothill Farms has been a community staple in Sacramento, CA. It’s a different kind of hospital. We blend gold standard medicine with integrative care; think acupuncture, nutrition, laser therapy, and Reiki; all inside a space literally designed for calm. Separate entrances for cats and dogs, nature videos on the walls, and our resident therapy cat, Mocha, who just got a new toy Ferrari for his birthday.

The team you'd join

You'd be the 9th DVM on a team that consults freely and orchestrates care plans together. We have eight doctors now with skills across surgery, dentistry, nutrition, and alternative modalities.

The support is deep. Seven RVTs with over ten years of experience each. Assistants averaging five plus years. Four UC Davis vet students learning with us. Each doctor typically has two to three assistants; surgery days get three.

We've also got incredible referral relationships. Specialists come to us for cardiology, orthopedics, and ultrasound.

We welcome whatever unique skills you bring. But we're especially keen if you have an interest or background in orthopedic manipulation (chiropractic), ophthalmology, dermatology, ultrasound, or are board certified in a specialty.

The role & what we do

This is a small animal general practice that also handles urgent care; we build specific blocks into the schedule for those cases so it's managed, not chaotic.

• Surgery: from routine procedures to advanced cases with traveling surgeons.
• Full service dentistry with an experienced support staff.
• A full suite of integrative therapies: acupuncture, companion therapy laser, nutrition counseling, energy medicine.
• There's room to grow what we offer too; into exotics, chiropractic, or specialty dentistry if that's your thing.

The schedule

We're open seven days a week and we're flexible. Tell us what you need.

• Maybe you just want one day a week; Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays work.
• A weekend only schedule? Saturday/Sunday or Friday through Sunday is possible.
• A three day week could be three 12 hour shifts or three 10 hour shifts.
• A four day week at four 10 hour shifts is also on the table.

The facilities

It's built for efficiency and low stress; for everyone. Eight exam rooms include special comfort and therapy rooms. A dedicated surgery suite with two tables and its own dental suite. A separate procedure room for visiting specialists and orthopedics. In house IDEXX lab, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, companion therapy laser, and surgical laser. Flow friendly systems mean in room assistant support, charting/scribe tech, and strong follow up protocols so nothing falls through the cracks. You'll have a private or shared doctor's office and there's a spacious employee lounge to actually take a break in.
