Child Caregiver

The Short Version

Bergamo Montessori School, part of Endeavor Schools, needs a Substitute Childcare Teacher in Sacramento, CA. This is a real role with real kids, real classrooms, and a real hourly pay range of $18.00 to $20.00, depending on your education and experience. If you have a high school diploma or GED and at least 12 Child Development Units (that's a California state requirement, non negotiable), we should talk. You don't have to come from a school setting. Some of our best teachers started in customer service, healthcare, or retail. The main thing is you genuinely like being around young children.

What You'll Actually Do

• Help run learning activities that are designed to be genuinely engaging and supportive of each child's development. Not just busywork, real stuff.
• Make sure every kid is safe and feels safe. That's the baseline, always.
• Pay attention to how each child is doing and track their progress. You're not just watching them, you're seeing them.
• Build a classroom environment that's harmonious. The kind of place where children and other teachers actually want to be every day.

What You Need

• A High School Diploma or GED. That's the starting point.
• At least 12 Child Development Units. California requires this, so we do too.
• Prior experience working with toddlers and preschool students in a certified child development center. Real experience, not just babysitting.
• Comfort with standard office equipment, like a laptop and a tablet. You won't be writing code, but you need to be able to log in and use basic tools.
• Patience. A nurturing attitude. A sincere interest in the well being and development of young learners. That's not fluff, it's essential.
