Behavior Technician

The Job

This is a floating Behavior Technician role for Intercare Therapy's School Services team. You'll be the person who steps in when another Behavior Interventionist is out, which means you're keeping things running and students on track across multiple school districts in the Greater Los Angeles area. It's not a desk job; you're active in different classrooms and schools every day.

What You'll Do Day to Day

• Work side by side with classroom teachers to implement each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
• Use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methods directly with students to address specific behavioral goals
• Monitor students during transitions between activities, meal times, and other daily routines
• Help run recreational activities and go on off campus trips with the class
• Keep detailed daily notes on student behavior and progress using Intercare's documentation system
• Respond calmly to emergency situations using Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques ; CPI certified or willing to get it
• Communicate clearly with supervisors, agency staff, and sometimes parents about what you're seeing with each student
• Accurately complete session notes and collect client signatures in the practice management system after each session
• Collect data on observable client behavior throughout the day
• Attend required trainings, staff meetings, team meetings, in services ; whatever comes up that keeps everyone aligned
• Support your Supervisor by helping review team performance stuff like cancellations, how minutes are being used, and staff session documentation rates

The Schedule & Pay Details That Matter

The rate is $23 per hour. You're guaranteed 30 hours per week ; that's 6 hours each school day during the regular school year. Schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

A couple things about coverage assignments: individual student or school coverage can last anywhere from 1 day to more than 30 days depending on need. If no coverage assignment is available on a given day, you report to one of Intercare's Behavioral Health Centers instead and handle other essential non coverage work there.

The Hard Requirements ; No Fluff Here

• A minimum of 2 years experience doing behavioral intervention or working in special education classrooms ; real experience matters here
• A solid working knowledge of ABA principles (the science behind what we do)
• A current CPI certification or willingness to obtain one before starting work with students directly unsupervised ; they'll set this up for you if needed but it's mandatory either way
