The Job Here

Heidelberg Materials is one of the biggest building materials suppliers in the world. And at our Rochester, NY location, we need someone who knows their way around diesel equipment. This is a hands on mechanic role with real responsibility. You'll keep our fleet running safely and reliably.

What you'll actually do:

• Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel equipment so it stays safe and reliable on the road
• Conduct inspections and figure out what's wrong ; mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic
• Complete preventive maintenance on a regular schedule
• Keep accurate service records and document every repair you do
• Work with the team to decide what gets fixed first and keep downtime to a minimum

What You Need to Bring

You've got to have real experience diagnosing and repairing Commercial Motor Vehicles, diesel engines, and all the systems that go with them. That means you're comfortable using tools, diagnostic gear, and the latest maintenance technology.

• You can read technical manuals, schematics, and work orders without a problem
• Safety isn't just a poster on the wall ; you actually follow procedures
• Strong problem solving skills. Sometimes you'll work alone, sometimes with the crew. Both work

Conditions and Requirements

If you're the right candidate, you'll need to pass a post offer pre employment physical exam, a drug and alcohol screen, and a background check. Some positions also require ongoing FMCSA regulated drug and alcohol testing.

This isn't a desk job. Expect moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and plenty of noise. That's just the work environment.

What You'll Get

Pay lands between $31.00 and $34.50 per hour. Benefits come through the Union ; medical, dental, vision, and a pension. You'll also get paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays through the Union.
