About This Role
What you'll do
You're the nurse for our wound care patients. That means you're their primary advocate and the one managing their path to healing. You'll collaborate with doctors and the rest of the care team to make it happen.
Your day is built around a clear model: Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage. It's how we ensure consistent, high quality care.
- Start each shift with a thorough patient assessment. You need to spot any changes in status right away and report them.
- Carry out procedures and monitoring as ordered. Your documentation has to be timely and complete; it's a critical part of the record.
- Administer medications and watch for how the patient responds. If there's an unintended reaction, you take appropriate action.
- Anticipate what your patients need before they have to ask. Responding quickly to requests is just the baseline; resolving issues proactively is where you shine.
- A big part of your job is teaching. You'll explain medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and possible side effects to patients and their families. You translate complex terms into something they can truly understand.
What you need to have
The non negotiables first. You must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; a BSN gives you an edge but isn't mandatory. You need a current Virginia RN license or a valid compact multistate license.
You also need at least 1 2 years of nursing experience specifically in wound care. This isn't a generalist role; we need someone who knows this specialty.
We'll require you to get your Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within your first 30 days if you don't already have it.
