Caring for an elderly person isn't just a job ; it's a relationship built on trust and respect. As an Elderly Caregiver in Raleigh, NC, you'll help someone maintain their independence while ensuring they're safe, comfortable, and treated with dignity. The work happens in private homes, often one on one, and every day looks a little different. You might be preparing meals one hour and assisting with mobility the next. It's hands on, personal, and genuinely meaningful.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Personal care assistance. Help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. These are intimate tasks that require patience and a calm demeanor.
• Medication reminders. You won't administer meds unless certified, but you'll remind clients when it's time to take them and note any missed doses.
• Light housekeeping and meal prep. Keeping living spaces tidy and preparing nutritious meals that fit dietary restrictions ; low sodium, diabetic friendly, soft foods.
• Mobility support. Assist with walking, transferring from bed to chair, or using a walker or wheelchair safely around the home.
• Companionship & engagement. Play cards, read aloud, look through old photo albums ; anything that keeps your client mentally stimulated and connected to the world around them.
• Transportation for errands or appointments. Driving clients to doctor visits or the grocery store if you have a reliable vehicle and valid insurance.

Requirements

• Experience: At least six months of paid caregiving experience preferred ; but we know life experience counts too. If you've cared for a family member long term, that may qualify.
• Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification is a huge plus. Some employers in Raleigh, NC require it; others offer training after hire. A CNA or HHA certificate helps but isn't mandatory for every role.
• A valid driver's license, clean driving record (if using your own car), and auto insurance ; many assignments involve running local errands or taking clients to appointments around Raleigh, NC .
