Registered Nurse

Ascension·Racine, WI

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Neuro Admin RN role at Via Christi St. Francis in Racine, WI. It's a dayshift, full time position, and it's a bit different from your standard bedside job. You're the go to person for stroke response across the hospital.

What you'll do

You'll carry the stroke phone. When a Code Stroke is called; whether it's in the ER or somewhere else in the building; you're the one responding immediately to assess the patient and get diagnostics and treatment moving fast.

You coordinate everything during that critical window. That means making sure labs are drawn, scans happen, and medications are given with the urgency a stroke demands. You're connecting the dots between the ER team, imaging, neurology, and everyone else involved.

When you're not running to a code, you won't be sitting still. You'll round on the floors to support the bedside nurses. Think of it as being a clinical resource in real time: helping with complex charting, troubleshooting patient care issues, and answering questions.

You'll also guide patients and their families through what's happening. A stroke diagnosis is overwhelming; you'll provide the education and clarity they need to understand the road to recovery.

And you won't just hand them off at discharge. You'll work with the Stroke Team on planning, so every patient has a clear path forward when they leave our care.

What you need to have

  • A Registered Nurse license from the Kansas Board of Nursing.
  • A BLS Provider certification from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. You need to get this within your first month if you don't have it already.
  • An Advanced Life Support certification, again from AHA or Red Cross. This one needs to be obtained within six months of starting.
  • The education requirement is straightforward: a nursing diploma from an accredited school or college, or your professional licensure at the time of hire.

What would make you a great fit

  • At least two years of experience as an RN in an ICU. We're really hoping to find someone with a background in Neuro/Stroke Critical Care or from an Emergency Department.
  • A genuine interest in teaching and developing staff. If you enjoy helping other nurses level up their skills at the bedside, this is for you.
  • The collaborative mindset this role demands. You have to work seamlessly with multiple disciplines; doctors, therapists, technicians; to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
