About This Role

Job Overview

This is a hands on role for someone who doesn't mind being on their feet. As a Warehouse Packager in Queens, NY, you'll handle incoming products, get them boxed up correctly, and make sure orders are ready to ship. It's straightforward work, but it demands focus and consistency ; one wrong label can send a package across the country instead of across town. The environment is busy, industrial, and temperature controlled depending on the facility.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare orders for shipment. You'll scan items, match them against packing lists, and select the right box or envelope sizes.
  • Pack goods securely. That means using bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or air pillows to keep fragile stuff intact during transit.
  • Label boxes clearly. Print shipping labels from a computer system and affix them properly so barcodes scan without issues.
  • Build pallets. Stack packed boxes onto pallets in stable patterns and wrap them with stretch film so nothing shifts on a truck.
  • Inspect returns. When customers send things back, you'll check the condition and sort items for restocking or disposal.

Requirements

  • Able to stand for full shifts, usually 8 to 10 hours with scheduled breaks.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly. Heavier items might require team lifting or equipment use ; you won't be expected to do that alone.
  • Safely operate basic tools, like tape guns, box cutters, and handheld scanners after brief training.
  • Read English well enough to follow packing instructions and distinguish between similar looking product numbers like "37584" vs "37854."
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, but some facilities waive that if you have warehouse experience from another job or the military.

What It's Like In This Role

You'll work alongside other packers at long tables or conveyor lines. Most places use handheld scanners connected to their inventory system ; it tells you exactly what goes into each box.
