About This Role

The Role

Sodexo's Airline Lounge Segment is looking for a Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager to run the kitchen at the Alaska Airlines Lounge in Portland, OR. This isn't a back of house job where you're just plating food. It's a hands on role that requires someone who can create and deliver an upscale experience inside a travel oasis. You'll need eclectic menu knowledge and a background in high volume catering and events. This is a full time, hourly position with real room to grow, and the quality of life here is excellent. You do have to pass a TSA background check and get an airport badge.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Handle purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis, and production forecasting.
  • Make sure Sodexo's culinary standards are followed ; that means recipe compliance and consistent food quality.
  • Develop and motivate your team to embrace culinary policy and procedure.
  • Enforce food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Use automated food inventory, ordering, production, and management systems.

What You Bring

  • A strong culinary background, with the ability to stay current on new culinary trends.
  • 2–3 years of experience at the Kitchen Manager or Sous Chef level.
  • You're a safety and sanitation expert. ServSafe certified.
  • Genuine leadership and communication skills ; you can hold the highest of standards without being a jerk about it.
  • Strong coaching and employee development skills.
  • A real passion for food and innovation.
  • Minimum education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
