Dietitian

About This Role

I've been placing dietitians in specialized treatment settings for over a decade, and roles like this one are why I stay in this field. This isn't about general outpatient counseling; it's deep, foundational work with adolescents at a critical point. Monte Nido & Affiliates is looking for a Registered Dietitian to join their Clementine program in Portland, OR on a temporary basis, covering up to six months. The work happens at a residential treatment center exclusively for teens dealing with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, or Exercise Addiction.

The philosophy here matters. The entire nutrition program is built on a Health At Every Size (HAES) informed model. That means the care is behavior focused, not weight focused. It operates on the core beliefs that healthy people come in all shapes and sizes, that all bodies deserve proper nourishment, and that weight loss efforts actually work against eating disorder recovery. The goal is to help each client move from repairing their relationship with food toward a self trusted, internally directed way of eating; ultimately aiming for a life that reflects their unique individuality, free from the disorder.

What you'll do here

You won't be sitting in an office all day. You're a central part of the leadership and clinical teams, collaborating constantly with all disciplines to support each client's path. The kitchen and dining environment is designed to be open and accessible, more like a home than an institution.

  • You have full oversight of all meals prepared for clients on campus.
  • Conducting thorough nutrition assessments and monitoring each client's intake is a core part of your week.
  • You’ll participate with the treatment team to develop each client’s Master Treatment Plan.
  • Making sure all nutritional services meet strict standards and regulations is on your shoulders.
  • And you’re responsible for keeping all related documentation proper and complete.

What you need to bring

They're looking for the right blend of credentials, some specific experience, and clear alignment with their mission.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or a related human services field is the minimum; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • You must hold your active Registered Dietitian credential.
  • At least one year of experience working (or completing an internship) in a healthcare setting is required. If that time was in a psychiatric setting, even better.
  • Get your CPR/BLS certification before your first day if you don't already have it.
  • You need solid computer skills to navigate their systems.

The intangibles are just as important: a genuine passion for doing excellent work to help clients, and communication skills that are clear and effective whether you're writing or speaking.
