Yellowstone Local is working with Caliber Plumbing & Mechanical, a well known mechanical and plumbing contractor in Portland, OR. They need a construction bookkeeper who actually understands job costing and doesn't just put numbers in a system. This isn't a generic accounting job. It's for someone who takes real pride in getting the financial details right on construction projects.
Your New Role
You'll work on site in Portland, OR as the primary construction bookkeeper. Here's what that actually looks like day to day:
- Manage full cycle accounting for construction projects
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Maintain job costing, work in progress reporting, and percent complete accounting
- Process customer billing, including progress billing and retainage tracking
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances
- Handle vendor payments, lien waivers, and notices
- Prepare financial reconciliations and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year end close
- Generate financial reports using QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and monitor cash flow
- Partner with project managers to track project costs and support profitability
What You'll Need
- 3 or more years of construction accounting experience in plumbing, HVAC, or related skilled trades
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field ; or equivalent construction accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of job costing, project accounting, WIP reporting, and percent complete accounting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with document management systems such as DocuWare
- Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP and certified payroll reporting
- Experience with progress billing, Schedule of Values, and retainage
- Experience handling lien waivers, notices, and collections
- The ability to manage accounts payable and weekly accounts receivable aging
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Compensation and Perks
- Hourly pay of $35 to $40 per hour based on experience
- A consistent 4 day workweek with 10 hour shifts and 3 day weekends
