About This Role

The Role

This is a Behavior Technician position with Centria Autism in Portland, OR. You'll work one on one with children who have autism, following individualized behavior intervention plans created by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The job uses evidence based techniques to teach communication, social, and daily living skills while reducing interfering behaviors. Children can be unpredictable and sometimes confrontational, so this role isn't for the weak of spirit, mind, or body.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Implement behavior intervention plans under BCBA supervision
  • Teach communication, social, and daily living skills using proven methods
  • Help reduce challenging behaviors through positive reinforcement strategies
  • Stay physically active throughout sessions ; standing, walking, sitting, grasping, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting
  • Lift and carry children or objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Document session data and progress notes accurately each day

What You Need to Bring

  • A passion for helping children with autism reach their potential
  • Patience and compassion ; kids test boundaries and that's okay
  • The ability to collaborate well within a team environment alongside BCBAs and other technicians
  • A high school diploma or GED minimum qualification required; no previous experience needed because we provide comprehensive training
  • 18 years old or older per state requirements.
  • A clean preemployment background check is mandatory before you start working.
