Registered Nurse

About This Role

Hey there. I'm a recruiter with Premiere Healthcare Staffing. We've got a 12 week contract for an RN in Portland, ME that I think you should know about.

The Role & The Unit

This is a travel assignment at a partner hospital, and they need coverage in three critical areas: the Emergency Department, the ICU, and the Step Down Unit. You can pick up shifts on days or nights. The pay range for this contract is $1,584 to $2,221.56 gross per week.

Your focus will depend on which unit you're in, but it all comes down to managing high acuity situations. You'll be assessing patients, making quick decisions under pressure, and working directly with physicians and other staff to stabilize people. It's the kind of work where your skills directly impact outcomes every single day.

What You'd Be Doing

  • Deliver care to patients across a wide spectrum of illness and injury.
  • Triage patients, assess situations fast, and solve problems efficiently when the pressure's on.
  • Work alongside doctors and other healthcare professionals as part of the care team.
  • Assist with resuscitative efforts, including CPR and using defibrillators.
  • Get equipment ready for emergency interventions like intubation or central line placement.
  • Help stabilize patients facing trauma, cardiac arrest, or other acute illnesses.
  • Use triage protocols to prioritize patient care based on how critical their condition is.

What You Need to Have

The requirements are specific to each unit. Here’s the breakdown:

For the Emergency Department:

  • A current, valid state RN license.
  • Your BLS certificate has to be current.
  • The same goes for ACLS; it's required.
  • You need a current PALS and/or ENPC certificate.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation is required.
  • At least one year of recent RN experience in an ED.
  • If you're in a Paramedic Base Station ED, an MICN certification is required.
  • A Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification is also required here.

For the ICU:

  • A current, valid state RN license.
  • A current BLS certificate when you start, and you'll keep it current.
  • A Critical Care Course completion would be great to see; it's preferred but not mandatory if you have the experience.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation is required here too.
  • A current ACLS certificate is non negotiable.
