About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this nursing role. We're Encompass Health, and we run inpatient rehab hospitals. You might've seen us on some "best places to work" lists; it's a point of pride for us. Right now, we need Registered Nurses in Pittsburgh, PA, and we're setting things up a bit differently.

The Setup: Short Term or Full Time

We're hiring for two distinct paths, and you can pick the one that fits your life.

  • 8 Week Short Term Contracts: This is for the flexibility. Maybe you've got personal commitments coming up, or you want to try out our environment without a long term promise. It's an 8 week gig where you come in, do great work, and make a real impact during that time.
  • Full Time Positions: The traditional route. This is for someone ready to plant their flag, build a career with us, and get the full suite of benefits from day one. And if you start on a short term contract and decide you like it here? There's a clear path to move into a full time spot.

What You'd Actually Be Doing

This isn't just passing meds. You're central to a patient's recovery story in rehab.

  • You'll supervise care treatments and lead patient assessments.
  • A big part of the job is building tailored care plans and then adjusting them as needed.
  • You're the main point of contact for addressing patient concerns and questions.
  • Building a real rapport with patients and their families is non negotiable; understanding their specific situation is how you help them move forward.
  • A lot of collaboration happens here. You'll be talking with different departments constantly to make sure care is coordinated.
  • Other nurses will come to you as a resource when they hit complex cases or have questions.
  • And honestly, one of the best parts: celebrating when a patient hits a recovery milestone. Those victories are why you show up.

The Specifics You Need to Have

Let's cut to the chase on requirements.

  • A valid RN license for the state is mandatory; that's the baseline.
  • You must have CPR certification. If you've got your Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) cert, that's a strong plus.
  • Having your Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) credential would be fantastic, but it's not a deal breaker starting out.
  • We'd prefer you have at least one year of experience working in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital setting. It’s just a different pace and focus than acute care.

The Good Stuff That Starts Day One

The perks aren't something you wait 90 days for. They kick in on your first day, especially if you go full time. Our benefits package includes medical coverage, dental insurance, vision insurance, and life insurance. You'll also get paid time off. And there are other advantages too; things like growth opportunities within the company that we're pretty proud of. It’s all part of supporting your well being so you can focus on the work.

The Next Step Is Yours

If this sounds like your kind of nursing; where small wins matter deeply; we should talk. Submit your application through this platform and we'll take it from there. This position is open at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Harmarville in Pittsburgh, PA.
