Job Overview

This ICU RN position is for a nurse who thrives in high acuity settings. You'll manage critically ill patients, making rapid assessments and interventions that directly impact outcomes. Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients, including post operative, trauma, and medical ICU cases.
• Operate and monitor complex equipment like ventilators, IV pumps, and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
• Administer titrated vasoactive drips and sedation, adjusting based on continuous patient assessment.
• Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapists, and other specialists to execute and adjust care plans.
• Document all care with precision in the electronic health record, ensuring accuracy for legal and handoff purposes.
• Provide clear, compassionate communication with patients' families during critical situations.

Requirements

• A current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of practice.
• A minimum of one year of recent experience in an adult or mixed ICU setting is required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
• The ability to stand for long periods, lift over 35 pounds, and respond quickly to alarms and emergencies.
• You need a calm demeanor under extreme pressure and the mental stamina for 12 hour shifts filled with complex decision making.

The environment is intense but structured. You'll typically work with another RN or a dedicated aide for your patient assignment. Most ICUs use Epic or Cerner for charting. Expect a mix of day and night shifts; schedules often follow a rotating pattern. The workload is heavy but focused; your assignment will be limited to one or two patients due to their acuity level.
