About This Role

What You'll Be Doing

This is a hands on leadership role in the Meat Department. You'll work alongside the Meat Manager to keep things running smoothly ; writing orders, assigning tasks, and making sure the department looks good and operates efficiently.

You'll cut meat for customers, fill the sales cases, and keep an eye on product levels so we hit our out of stock goals. You'll also help with unloading and checking in orders, stocking frozen foods and lunch meats, and keeping deliveries organized in the cooler and freezer. Maintaining the cold chain process is non negotiable.

Beyond the day to day, you'll help develop team members and spot people ready for the Management Development Process. You'll need to understand and follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement. And every interaction ; with customers or coworkers ; should reflect real integrity and a focus on service.

What We're Looking For

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in meat operations or a related field
  • Prior management experience in meat operations ; that's preferred
  • Customer service experience
  • Knowledge of Market District meat operational procedures
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting a Profit and Loss statement
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A current meat cutting certification
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • At least 18 years old

How You'll Work

You'll spend most of your time on your feet in a busy, fast moving department. It's physical work ; lifting, cutting, stocking, and cleaning. You'll follow safety rules from the Health Department, HACCP, OSHA, and company policies. That means keeping equipment, tables, utensils, and floors clean and safe.

You don't just follow the rules though. You'll be expected to model safe work practices and help protect yourself, your team, our customers, and the banner.

What Sets You Apart

  • A real curiosity about food ; you want to learn more and share that knowledge
  • Natural suggestive selling skills ; you can help customers find what they need and more
  • A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and respect for everyone ; team members, customers, vendors, and the community
  • You understand that customer service isn't just a policy; it's the whole point
