VP of Operations

About This Role

The Role

This is the senior most position at the Distribution Center. You're the site leader for standalone locations in Phoenix, AZ, reporting hard line to a Regional VP of Operations and dotted line into the Area President (who oversees 1 to 3 DCs total).

What You'll Actually Do

  • Set long term operations objectives that tie directly to the company's broader business goals. Then build and execute a strategic plan for the whole operations department.
  • Pull together shipping, receiving, transportation, purchasing, and sales. You'll sit down with each function, talk through their accountabilities, and show how they depend on each other to hit company goals.
  • Help shape the Distribution Center's overall business goals. You're not just executing someone else's plan.
  • Keep operations profitable by controlling inventory, losses, accidents, and safety. That's the kind of day to day stuff that makes or breaks a DC.
  • Hunt for synergies and better ways of working. You'll develop and roll out new methods that improve productivity or customer service.
  • Guide your management team on compliance with government regulations, agency guidelines, and company programs. Make sure safety, security, maintenance, and ergonomics are locked in.
  • Delegate responsibility to managers so they hit their productivity goals. Enforce company policies on safety and discipline, communicate changes to the workforce, and oversee the day warehouse associates' work and performance.
  • Build performance improvement plans. Administer discipline when it's needed. And spot training opportunities before things go sideways.
  • Tap into the Operations knowledge center, industry groups, and other networks to bring back what works and share it with the team.
  • Take on other duties as assigned by your manager.

What You Need to Bring

  • 10 years of operations experience, spread across different job functions in distribution management.
  • At least 5 years of management experience. You've run teams before.
  • A 4 year degree is preferred. But if you have a High School diploma (or GED) and equivalent experience, that works too.
  • Real know how in D.O.T. regulations, labor relations, selecting and interviewing and recruiting, customer service, budgeting and cost control.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HAACP, and other regulations that apply here.
  • PC skills. You're comfortable working with computers.

Compensation and Benefits

You'll get an annual incentive plan bonus of up to 30% of your base salary.
