Dover Precision Components

Territory Sales Manager

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for Dover Precision Components, specifically for their Inpro/Seal brand. They make permanent bearing protection and shaft seals for all kinds of rotating industrial equipment.

The Role

You'd be the Regional Sales Engineer covering Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and California. To cover it well and be near key clients, living in Phoenix, Las Vegas, or Los Angeles makes the most sense. You're home based but you'll be out in your territory a lot.

This isn't just order taking. You're building the business from the ground up with a mix of brand new prospects and existing customers. You'll need a real plan for that.

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow the territory.
  • Identify and close new business while expanding what we do with current clients.
  • Provide deep technical support; you're figuring out which of our sealing solutions is the right fit for a customer's specific machinery problem.
  • Work closely with our internal engineering and customer service teams to make sure projects run smoothly.
  • Build strong relationships at customer sites. This means regular in person reviews with their engineering and manufacturing staff to troubleshoot issues, discuss design changes, or handle quality concerns.
  • You'll often schedule and participate in product installations yourself, providing hands on solutions if something isn't working right.
  • Understand exactly where we stand against competitors in your area and develop plans to take market share from them.
  • Set pricing strategies based on your knowledge of each account's situation.
  • A big part of the job is coaching and developing our distributor sales teams and representatives to help them sell more effectively.
  • Prepare and deliver training programs for customers, distributors, and end users.
  • Keep meticulous records of your sales pipeline, activity, and all customer interactions.

What You Need to Bring

A few things are non negotiable here. We need someone who gets both the sales process and the technical side of heavy industry.

  • A solid 5 years in sales or a customer facing technical role. Experience with rotating equipment like pumps, motors, or turbines is a huge plus.
  • A bachelor’s or associate’s degree is preferred but equivalent work experience in technical sales counts too.
  • A strong grasp of mechanical applications and what makes industrial equipment reliable (or fail).
  • The ability to work independently as a self starter while managing an entire geographic territory.
  • A proven skill for listening to a customer's problem and then crafting a solution that meets or beats their expectations.
  • The communication skills to present confidently to everyone from a plant floor mechanic to a corporate engineering manager.
  • You should be comfortable with MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • A valid driver’s license is required. You need to be willing to drive throughout the territory regularly with overnight stays. Don't worry about putting miles on your personal car; we provide a company vehicle for work.
