About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Team Lead position at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ. I've been recruiting for these roles for a long time, and this is a solid opportunity for an RN ready to step up into more of a leadership space. It's not just about patient care; it's about guiding the unit day to day.

The Role

You'd be the formal and informal leader on your nursing unit. That means you're working closely with management on daily planning and coordination, but you're also right there with the team.

A big part of your day is thinking through patient assignments. You'll delegate care based on staff skill levels, patient needs, and what resources are available. You're coordinating all phases of nursing care; direct patient care, education for patients and families, and managing transitions when patients move to another setting. You'll practice within the Mayo Nursing Care Model and the ANA standards.

Your leadership shows up in practical ways: developing other staff members, teaching, precepting new hires, serving on committees, and driving quality improvement projects. There's also room to get involved in evidence based practice and research.

What You Need to Bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • An active RN license for the state you'll be working in.
  • At least two years of nursing experience under your belt.
  • You need to be comfortable on a computer; experience with electronic medical records is a plus.
  • This job requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification if you're working on campus. If the role is off campus, that requirement is determined by the specific work area.
  • The unit specialty here is ENT. So while prior ENT experience or previous team lead experience would give you a real edge, they're listed as preferred qualifications, not absolute must haves.

The Day to Day Reality

You have to thrive in a team setting but also be confident making decisions on your own. Critical thinking is non negotiable; situations change fast and you need to direct work flow to keep everything running smoothly.

Communication has to be clear and effective. And you need the flexibility to adapt when things get unpredictable; which they will.

The schedule is full time: 80 hours per pay period. You're looking at day shifts, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. No weekends and no call duty with this schedule.

The Package

This is a benefits eligible position. Mayo Clinic does their nurse compensation differently; it’s a model that rewards you directly for your experience, your education level, and how long you've been with them. They pair it with a strong tuition reimbursement program if you want to keep growing professionally.

  • Medical insurance with several plan options.
  • Dental coverage through Delta Dental or a flexible reimbursement account.
  • A vision plan with a national network.
  • Pre tax savings accounts like HSAs and FSAs for eligible health expenses.
  • A retirement package designed for long term security.

The Logistics & How to Apply

The role is classified as nonexempt. This position does qualify for TN visa sponsorship if that's relevant for you.
