As a Personal Care Aide (they call it a Patient Care Assistant here), you'll support nursing staff with direct and indirect patient care tasks. You'll work under the supervision of a registered nurse, carrying out skills that fall within the scope of a certified nursing assistant as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
You need to understand how people grow and develop throughout life ; from childhood to older adulthood ; and apply that knowledge to each patient's specific needs. You'll also communicate data about the patient's condition and any tasks you've been delegated.
Your schedule will flex. That means days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends are all possible depending on where they need you.
Schedule details
This is a full time position out of Phoenix, AZ. You work 72 hours per pay period on night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. That's three 12 hour shifts each week. On weekends, expect about 4 5 weekend shifts over every six week schedule (Friday and Saturday count).
What you'll do day to day
- Assist nursing staff with delegated direct and indirect patient care tasks
- Perform designated skills within your scope as a certified nursing assistant
- Interpret patient information based on their age specific needs
- Communicate changes in patient status to the registered nurse
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team throughout your shift
What you need to bring
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be valid for at least 90 days from your start date ; no exceptions.
- You'll maintain BLS competency throughout employment.
A little extra that helps
- Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR experience as a Medical Assistant OR Nursing Assistant ; all preferred but not required.
- Or at least 6 months working in a healthcare setting within the last year will definitely set you apart.
The pay range for this role at Phoenix, AZ
$20.00 per hour up to $25.59 per hour. Exact rate depends on experience and qualifications.
