What You'll Do
This is a hands on mechanical maintenance role inside a distribution center. You'll keep everything running ; conveyors, sortation systems, heating and HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, sprinklers. If it breaks, you fix it. If it's due for preventative maintenance, you're the one doing that too.
You'll install new equipment and modify existing systems. Sometimes you'll design, fabricate, and install something specialized from scratch. You're expected to keep a log of every maintenance issue and what you did about it.
- Maintain and repair building systems: plumbing, electrical, heating, refrigeration, sprinklers
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in the facility
- Inspect completed repairs to make sure they're done right
- Handle general construction work like carpentry, painting, flooring, and roof repairs
- Do minor electrical work on lighting and supply systems
- Run safety inspections and record them as assigned
- Clean and lubricate machine parts like shafts, pulleys, gears, bearings
- Replace or repair machine belts
- Remove dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines
- Patch or replace plaster/plasterboard; paint walls, ceilings trim
- Change batteries on power equipment
- Clear clogged drains; replace plumbing fixtures
- Order new materials tools supplies as needed ; including requisitions and vendor contact for parts services
- Clean your work area tools equipment at the end of each job
- Complete logs documentation for every maintenance action taken plus parts used estimates costs made
- Always demonstrate safe work practices.
- Cowork with company policies; finish special projects other duties your supervisor assigns.
The Skills That Matter Here
A good candidate knows their way around electrical mechanical HVAC plumbing welding ; that's baseline. You also need clear verbal written communication because you'll be documenting things constantly.
