About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this role. It's for a Regional Channel Sales Executive with Powell Industries, based in Phoenix, AZ. The core of the job is growing sales of Powell's electrical products and integrated solutions through the Electrical Distribution channel. That means working with distributors.
What you'll be doing
You're the main point of contact for your accounts, handling everything in the Powell catalog. A big part of it is building real relationships; you need to understand a customer's business inside and out to build preference for our products. You won't be doing this alone; you'll pull in support from different teams within Powell as needed.
- Find new sales prospects and manage the existing accounts in your region. This is a face to face role.
- Develop new business and secure repeat sales.
- Prepare and deliver product presentations at customer sites, conferences, or trade shows.
- Create detailed equipment proposals and review sales contracts.
- Follow up on sales leads and referrals to build the pipeline.
- Put together action plans to target specific opportunities.
- Help identify and resolve any client concerns or complaints that come up.
- Keep all sales reports, activities, and follow ups current and accurate using our Sales CRM software.

A BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another Technical field is required. We need at least five years of experience in a Technical Sales or Marketing role. Alternatively, a combination of five years in electrical engineering and sales or marketing works too.

- Selling to Electrical Distributors in North America is a strong plus.
- The written and oral communication has to be excellent. You also need solid computer skills and the ability to plan your work effectively.
The deeper skills that matter
This isn't just about taking orders. You're helping shape solutions and close deals.
- You can estimate jobs, negotiate terms, and respond to both commercial and technical questions from clients.
- A good understanding of how capital projects get decided, staffed, and purchased is key.
- You should know how all the pieces of an integrated project fit together; our manufactured items, intelligent devices, communications gear, major buyout components.
- Leading customer negotiations on commercial terms is part of the job. You'll also facilitate talks on legal terms alongside our corporate counsel.
- A grasp of revenue recognition requirements helps.
- Knowing who our competitors are and having a feel for market level pricing for different solutions will set you up for success.
The practical details
The schedule involves about 50% travel throughout your assigned region. This position does not offer Visa sponsorship or relocation assistance. To be considered, you must have legal authorization to work in the United States on a full time basis right now.
