Automotive Technician

$27 an hour to start. There's also a shift premium that could apply.

If you're the kind of mechanic who likes variety, this is it. You'll work on a whole fleet of newer cars from different brands, doing the repairs and maintenance that keep them safe and ready for customers. Your work directly helps reduce downtime and gets people on the road.

What you'd be doing

You'd handle essential mechanical repairs with minimal supervision. The specific work depends on your experience, but it covers a lot of ground.

• Oil changes and fluid services.
• Tire repairs and brake work.
• Suspension repairs and other routine maintenance.
• Warranty related repairs as needed.

You'll also have chances to learn by assisting senior techs with more complex diagnostics, building your skills over time.

The stuff you need to bring

• A valid driver's license with a good record.
• At least two years of professional auto repair experience; or automotive coursework with certifications can count toward this.
• A minimum of one ASE certification already. You need to be able to get two more within your first year here.
• A working knowledge across common ASE areas: Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel.
• Your own complete set of tools for automotive repair and maintenance.
• Basic computer skills; typing and data entry.
• The physical ability for the job: lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, bending, reaching, walking, sitting, kneeling. You'll be entering, exiting, and driving vehicles frequently.
• You must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.

This job is on site in Philadelphia, PA every day; it isn't remote. If you've got previous OEM experience, that's a definite plus for us.
