About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this kitchen. We need a Sous Chef in Peoria, IL who can run the show when the Executive Chef isn't around. That's not just a fancy title; it means you're stepping up to handle everything from menu planning to making sure every plate that leaves the line is something you're proud of.
What you'll do
You're the right hand to the Executive Chef. You'll take their direction and turn it into reality, helping to create and implement menus and concepts.
- Manage, plan, and direct food prep with the kitchen team. It's on you to make sure everything is done properly.
- The food leaving your kitchen needs to be top quality. It should make patients and other diners happy.
- Check that portions are correct and presentation is attractive. Details matter here.
- You need to know every part of the daily kitchen operations inside and out. Be ready to jump in and do any job if needed.
- Act as the main point of contact between the kitchen and other functions. This requires clear communication and leadership.
- Ensure all kitchen staff are performing at a professional level. That includes coaching in the moment and supporting leadership with any investigations.
- You'll train new team members and help build the schedule to keep the kitchen properly staffed.
What you need
This isn't an entry level gig. You've got to bring some specific experience and credentials to the table.
- A Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification is required, but you have up to 3 months after starting to get it.
- You also need ANSI Accredited Food Handler Training, which must be completed within your first 30 days.
- For education, we're looking for either an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts or a Certificate of Completion in Culinary Arts.
- Relevant work experience is a must. You should already know what it takes to run a professional kitchen.
The details
The pay range for this position is $18.58 to $30.10 per hour. That starting number is our good faith minimum for the role at this location, but where you land in that range depends on your experience, qualifications, and other factors like your shift schedule.
