Registered Nurse

Carle Health·Peoria, IL

About This Role

Alright, here's the deal. I'm looking for an RN to join a team in Peoria, IL. This isn't about just following orders; it's about using your head, collaborating with everyone from doctors to therapists, and genuinely managing patient care from start to finish. You'll need to think on your feet and own your practice.

What you'll be doing

You're the hub of the wheel for your patients. You'll assess them, build their care plans with them and their family, and execute those plans throughout your shift. That means constantly evaluating how they're doing and adjusting the approach as needed.

  • Your day involves a mix of hands on care, detailed charting, and solving problems as they pop up.
  • You'll coordinate with the whole interdisciplinary team; doctors, specialists, other nurses; to make sure nothing falls through the cracks from admission to discharge.
  • A big part of this is knowing when you need help and not being shy about asking for it, whether that's a nurse to nurse consult or calling in a physician.
  • Patient education is key. You'll figure out the best way to teach each patient and their family based on their specific needs and comprehension level.
  • You’ll also handle bedside lab testing according to provider orders and hospital policy.
  • We expect you to juggle priorities when assignments change or things get busy unexpectedly.
  • And you’ll be involved in our performance improvement work, giving feedback on processes and helping collect data that makes our unit better.

The essentials you need

No fluff here. These are the non negotiables to even get started.

  • A College Diploma in Nursing.
  • A current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license from IDFPR.
  • You must get your Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of starting.

The mindset we're after

The paperwork gets you in the door. How you work keeps you here. We need nurses who are proactive learners and solid teammates.

  • You seek out resources and opportunities to grow your skills in evidence based practice. Your technical know how includes troubleshooting your own equipment.
  • Think practically, especially with things like safe patient handling and using lift equipment properly.
  • Your communication has to be clear; during shift reports, when advocating for a patient with a doctor, or when giving constructive feedback to a peer.
  • Ownership matters. If there's a problem, you stick with it until it's resolved in the best way possible for the patient.
  • You understand national safety goals and core measures, and your daily work reflects those standards.
