About This Role

The gig

A Radiation Oncologist Physicist to work full time in Peoria, IL. This isn't a solo desk job ; you'll be right in the middle of a collaborative, physician partnered practice. You'll support everything from external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy to SRS and SBRT. You'll also serve as the department’s Radiation Safety Officer.

Equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and ongoing QA are part of the deal. You'll oversee the whole physics side of things ; policies, procedures, and QA programs ; and make sure the department stays compliant with IEMA, NRC, ACR, and DNV. You'll work directly with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to keep treatment planning and delivery running smoothly.

What you'll actually do

  • Provide comprehensive medical physics support for all radiation oncology services
  • Oversee equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and quality assurance
  • Develop and maintain departmental physics policies, procedures, and QA programs
  • Serve as the department's Radiation Safety Officer
  • Lead radiation safety efforts, including shielding requirements and radioactive material inventory management
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists on treatment planning and delivery
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, radiation safety meetings, and strategic planning
  • Help educate, orient, and train staff and students
  • Support innovation, clinical projects, and program development within radiation oncology

What you need to bring

  • A Master's degree or PhD in Physics or a related field
  • Certification as a Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics (ABR) ; required
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist in Radiation Therapy (IEMA) ; required
  • Experience in medical physics or a related clinical setting ; preferred

  • Pay range: $86.01 to $147.94 per hour. What you actually get depends on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shift schedule, and compensation model
