Graduate Nurse

Carle HealthยทPeoria, IL

About This Role

The Opportunity

You're a graduate nurse ready to start your career, and the hardest part might be figuring out which specialty fits you best. Carle Health's Nurse Residency Program is built around that reality. Instead of locking you into one unit right away, the program includes rotating clinical tracks. You'll get exposure to multiple hospital and specialty areas before deciding where you belong. There's orientation time with preceptor support, cross unit networking and mentoring, and extra guidance from a nurse residency coordinator. The program accelerates your development using the Benner Model, and it's designed to increase your job satisfaction once you land on your home unit.

The Role

As a staff Registered Nurse, you're the professional caregiver who takes responsibility for a group of patients during a designated time frame. You'll use the nursing process, current technology, and financial and human resources to provide care that aligns with the institution's philosophy. You'll complete initial assessments on patient admission and develop plans of care based on patient and family needs. Those plans get modified continuously based on evaluation. You'll implement nursing interventions and patient care procedures. You'll document everything accurately and on time. You'll report safety hazards and adverse events. And you'll work closely with a nurse preceptor to learn the responsibilities specific to your unit and patient population. You'll take initiative on your own learning, complete all mandatory training and competency modules, and give and receive constructive feedback with colleagues.
