Cath Lab Technologist

The Job

Carle Health needs a Cath Lab Technologist in Peoria, IL. This role comes with a $10,000 sign on bonus exclusive to the Cath Lab, plus a relocation bonus if you've got more than one year of experience and you're moving from over 50 miles away.

You'll work directly with Cardiologists during invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures for cardiac, vascular, and electrophysiology cases. That means setting up and running electrical and imaging equipment, monitoring hemodynamics using automated systems, and making sure each patient gets the care they need during their procedure.

What You'll Actually Do

• Assist cardiologists during coronary, vascular, and EP diagnostic or therapeutic procedures using specific techniques
• Set up sterile tables with the right supplies for each procedure type
• Connect patients to physiologic monitoring equipment properly
• Handle moderate sedation administration according to policy
• Monitor EKG rhythms, recognize arrhythmias, and interpret what you see
• Troubleshoot equipment problems as they come up ; this includes checking gear daily for performance and safety
• Manage the digital archiving system so patient images and reports are stored safely; pull archived images from deep storage or create CDs for sharing patient info when needed
• Report any malfunctioning equipment or supplies right away so patient safety stays front and center
• Recognize complications during procedures and help treat them immediately
• Assist with anesthesia needs for deeply sedated or anesthetized patients
• Educate patients during procedures to ease anxiety while keeping care focused on them
• Work with Research RNs or Coordinators on lab based research studies
• Train and mentor other team members ; clear communication is part of this job every day
• Interact professionally with vendors to make sure products and equipment keep patients safe and outcomes strong
• Follow guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of care for every coronary invasive case that comes through the Cath Lab.

The Details That Matter (Qualifications)

Certs You Must Have:

- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association- Licensed Radiologic Technologist in Radiography through Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)- Registered in Radiography (R) through ARRT- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within one year of starting ; also from AHA

The Education Piece:

A Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology is required.

The Skills They Want:

- Knowledge of hemodynamic concepts ; how pressure waves work inside the heart - Understanding cardiac anatomy/physiology plus purpose/operation of all equipment used in these cath lab cases - Familiarity with EP theory concepts ; including fluoroscopic anatomy related to diagnostic/interventional EP procedures - Good judgment when organizing priorities based on what's happening mid procedure - Ability to prep patients correctly ; draping technique included - Deep knowledge about radiation safety standards along with imaging equipment function - Interpretation skills around procedural results/outcomes both hemodynamic data points AND device implantation functioning after placement - Operation skill set covering both monophasic defibrillators AND biphasic defibrillators alike. Ability query archived images out deep archive storage system; create CDs transmitting patient information securely too. Invasive Cardiology routines recognition matters here daily basis alongside aseptic technique awareness maintained throughout shift length without fail..
