About This Role
The role
Kissimmee Surgery Center needs a PRN PACU RN. You'd work at an ambulatory surgery center, taking care of patients after their procedure until they're ready to go home. It's a PRN gig, so you pick up shifts as needed. The center is AAAHC accredited, does over 400 procedures a month, and is bilingual. Specialties include endoscopy, gastroenterology, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ENT, podiatry, and urology.
What you'd do day to day
- Set up your patient's care area and make sure all the equipment and supplies are there.
- Handle proper airway management.
- Monitor vitals, temperature, and cardiac status per policy.
- Insert, maintain, and remove IV catheters and saline locks correctly.
- Do a full head to toe evaluation using an approved scoring system, documenting everything per HCA policy.
- Check dressings and the operative site, and let the surgeon know if something looks off.
- Keep the environment safe and comforting for both patients and their families.
- Make sure patients meet discharge criteria before they leave.
What you need to bring
- An Associate Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, or higher nursing degree.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in a clinical setting ; PACU, ICU, or Surgery experience is preferred.
- An active RN license for the state where you'll work.
- BCLS certification before you start. Online certs won't cut it.
- ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.
- PALS if the facility requires it, also within 30 days of hire.
