About This Role
What you'll be doing here
This isn't a sit in an office and hand out checklists kind of job. As a Nurse Educator at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, you're the person who makes sure every nurse, tech, and clinician on the floor actually knows what they're doing ; and why it matters. You'll design training, run orientation, and figure out where the gaps are so you can close them.
Some days that means building a better onboarding program. Other days it means pulling together education for a new piece of technology or walking a new grad through their first code. You'll work with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to make sure everything we're teaching actually sticks ; and when it doesn't, you adjust.
- Coordinate orientation and onboarding programs for nursing staff and other healthcare personnel ; from scheduling to facilitation to evaluation
- Design educational activities that target real gaps in knowledge, skill, or practice for licensed and non licensed staff
- Make sure your content is evidence based; promote EBP across the unit to improve patient care
- Encourage (and participate in) research, quality improvement projects, and EBP work at the bedside
- Develop staff along the novice to expert continuum ; find out where someone is and help them get to where they need to be
- Identify skill enhancement opportunities for individuals who need more reps or more challenge
- Travel up to 25% of the time
What you need to bring
- A Bachelor's degree in nursing is required. A Master's in nursing is preferred.
- A current RN license in the state you practice (or active compact). This is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- A nationally recognized specialty certification? Preferred but not required.
- At least two years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia, or leadership ; preferred.
- Also preferred: two or more years of experience working in an acute care hospital setting.
The benefits part
The actual stuff that matters: full medical coverage (prescription drug plan included), dental insurance that covers cleanings without hassle, vision coverage if you need glasses like I do. There's also behavioral health support through telemedicine services plus free counseling referrals if life gets heavy.
- Paid time off. Not just vacation days but paid family leave too. Plus short- and long term disability coverage when something goes sideways health wise.
- A retirement plan worth talking about: 401(k) with a 100% match on 3% to 9% of your pay based on how long you've been with us. There's also an Employee Stock Purchase Plan if that's more your speed plus flexible spending accounts for healthcare expenses or dependent care costs.
- They help with tuition assistance, pay down student loans (yes loan assistance), certification support money toward getting certified yourself... even dependent scholarships for your kids should they want college someday plus partnership ties with Galen College of Nursing making further education easier all around honestly just ask about this benefit during your interview because it's generous compared with most companies I see posting jobs these days outright
