About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a commercial HVAC and Refrigeration Technician in Orlando, FL. I've been placing techs with CoolSys for a while now, and they're solid. They run a tight ship, but they take care of their people. This isn't just another service call gig; you'll be working on some serious equipment for big name clients.
What You'd Be Doing
The core of the job is keeping commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems running. You're the one they call when something breaks or when it's time for a check up.
- Repairing and overhauling equipment like compressors, air handlers, water pumps, and control devices.
- General repair work on all kinds of systems: air conditioning units, ice machines, evaporative condensers, furnaces.
- Performing preventative maintenance. That means diagnosing issues before they become big problems.
- Troubleshooting malfunctions using your electrical and mechanical skills to test systems and components.
- You'll handle job tickets and paperwork to keep everything moving smoothly.
- The work can vary. Some days it's a service call, other days you might be helping with a new installation startup or a minor construction project.
- You'll have a company vehicle. Driving it safely is part of the deal.
What You Need to Bring
They need someone who knows their way around a rack system and won't need hand holding. Here's the checklist.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- You must have your EPA Certification.
- They're looking for at least 3 to 4 years of hands on commercial refrigeration experience. That's non negotiable.
- If you've worked on supermarket or convenience store equipment, that's a huge plus. Experience with display cases, walk in boxes, single systems, and rack systems is what they want.
- A certification from a trade school is helpful, but your field experience is what really counts.
- You need a good driving record. They'll check it (MVR).
- The ability to work independently is key. You're out there representing the company.
- Be ready for emergency on call rotation. It's part of the job.
- The physical side: you've got to be able to lift up to 60 lbs. solo, and you'll be on your feet (or kneeling) for hours at a time.
The Details & The Good Stuff
Let's get into the specifics of pay, schedule, and what they offer. This is where CoolSys really tries to stand out from other shops.
The Pay & Bonus: The base pay range is $30 to $50 an hour, depending on your experience. On top of that, there's a quarterly bonus plan based on performance. They're also offering a sign on bonus up to $3,000 (that depends on your experience too).
The Schedule: This is a full time position with year round work. You won't get laid off in the slow season. But remember the emergency on call requirement we talked about? That means some nights and weekends when you're on rotation.
The Benefits:
- Medical insurance, Dental insurance,Vision insurance, and Prescription coverage are all part of the package.
