About This Role
Job Overview
This Automotive Specialist role is for someone who knows cars inside and out. You'll be the go to person for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and explaining technical details to customers in a way that makes sense. It's a hands on position based in Orlando, FL, where you'll work with a variety of vehicles every single day.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and pinpoint mechanical, electrical, and computer related problems.
- Perform complex repairs and maintenance across different systems; think engine work, brake service, suspension, and HVAC.
- Use diagnostic software to read codes and interpret data from modern vehicle networks.
- Write up detailed repair orders that clearly explain what's needed and why.
- Test drive vehicles before and after service to verify performance and safety.
- Keep your workspace organized and maintain tools according to shop standards.
Requirements
- A solid background in automotive repair is non negotiable. We're talking real world experience under the hood.
- Proficiency with scan tools, multimeters, and other standard diagnostic equipment.
- A valid driver's license is required; ASE certifications are a major plus.
- The ability to lift heavy components (like tires or batteries) and spend most of the day on your feet.
- A logical approach to troubleshooting; you don't just swap parts, you find the root cause.
What It's Like In This Role
The garage is active but organized. You'll collaborate with other techs on tough jobs but often run your own bay. Most shops here use digital management systems for dispatching work and tracking parts. Expect a steady flow of appointments; some days are packed, others have more breathing room to tackle bigger projects. The noise level is what you'd expect; tools, lifts, and occasional road tests.
Why You'll Like This Opportunity
The work itself provides variety; no two cars have the exact same story. Many employers in Orlando, FL offer training on new models and emerging tech like hybrids or advanced driver assist systems. There's clear potential to advance into a master technician or shop lead role if that's your path. You get to solve tangible problems and see the results roll out the door.
Schedule & Work Type
This is typically a full time, onsite position in Orlando, FL. Schedules often follow standard shop hours, which might include some Saturdays. Overtime pops up during busy seasons. Part time arrangements are less common but can exist depending on the specific hiring shop's needs.
