Johnson Controls

Sales Representative

Johnson Controls·Omaha, NE

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Fire Service Sales role in Omaha, NE. I've been placing people with Johnson Controls for a while now, and their service sales team is the engine of the business. This isn't about pushing a box; it's about building long term relationships and selling the peace of mind that comes with a well maintained building system.

What you'd be doing

You're promoting and selling service agreements; they call them PMAs; for commercial building systems. That covers fire alarm, suppression, sprinkler, security, sound, and communication systems, along with inspections.

  • Your main focus is hitting and exceeding financial targets. They track specific metrics closely here.
  • You need a solid grasp of the entire sales cycle, from prospecting to closing.
  • We're looking for a history of proven sales results: acquiring new business, growing existing accounts organically, and retaining clients.
  • Managing a territory strategically is a big part of it.
  • A huge chunk of the job is being the expert on relationships, both inside the company and with customers. You'll broker connections and nurture them.
  • You've got to be someone who actually likes new tools and fresh ideas. This team values development for yourself and everyone around you.
  • The environment is complex and demands accountability. If you're someone who picks up concepts quickly and genuinely wants to keep learning, you'll fit right in.
  • Be personable. Be genuine. Reliability matters, and your ability to influence people in a memorable way is what makes deals happen.

The background we need to see

Let's get into the specifics. I need someone who checks these boxes.

  • You've held 2 to 3 progressive sales roles before this one, with a track record of success to point to.
  • A good aptitude for technical details is important; attention to detail matters here.
  • Your presentation skills need to be top notch. You should be able to captivate people whether you're talking one on one or presenting to a group.
  • You have experience selling "service" and intangible products.
  • You've been exposed to formal sales methodologies, standards, and disciplines in past roles.

If you have these too, even better

A couple things aren't required but would really make your application stand out:

  • Knowledge of the fire and life safety industry itself.
  • Hands on experience using Salesforce.com.

The schedule & compensation

The hiring salary range for this position is $45K-$70K base pay. That figure is determined by your education, experience, skillset, internal equity at JCI, and market data.
