Registered Nurse

Good Samaritan·Omaha, NE

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this RN position. It's a PRN role, which means the hours vary. You'd be committing to at least 30 hours a month, with one weekend shift in that time. The shifts themselves are 8 hours and they change; days, evenings, nights.

The Work

You're using the full nursing process here: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation. Your day is about delivering individualized care to residents in a long term care setting.

  • You'll collaborate directly with residents, their families, and the interdisciplinary team to plan and evaluate care.
  • Caring for residents across the board is the focus; that includes preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Coordinating care, doing resident assessments, and providing education are all central to the role.
  • Sometimes you'll serve as the charge nurse. That involves delegating tasks appropriately to licensed and unlicensed personnel, making sure they have the support they need to provide safe care.
  • Everything you do is grounded in the state's Nurse Practice Act and the ANA's standards and code of ethics.

What You Need to Bring

A few specific things are non negotiable for this job.

  • You need at least three months of experience in Long Term Care; six months is what they'd prefer to see.
  • A current, unencumbered RN license for the state where you're practicing is required. If you're in an NLC state, multistate licensure works.
  • They want you to be a graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA). A Bachelor's Degree in nursing isn't required but it's preferred.
  • You have to be at least 18 years old.
  • Once you're on board, maintaining your required department competencies and certifications is part of the deal.

The Details & Pay

This isn't a job at just one building. You need to be ready to travel to support multiple locations within a 150 mile radius of your home address. They do reimburse mileage for that required travel.

The base pay range is $32.00 to $48.00 per hour. But on top of that:

  • There's a $5 per hour premium added to every single hour you work.
  • A $1.25 per hour differential kicks in for weekend shifts.
  • Another $1.25 per hour differential applies for evening or night shifts (that's between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM).
