Inside Sales Representative

About This Role

What the job is

You'll be the go to person for product knowledge on a whole range of building materials. We're talking drywall, insulation, metal studs, ceiling systems, stucco, tools, safety gear; you name it. Your main job is to help customers figure out what they need and get their orders placed.

A typical day looks like

  • Taking orders at the sales counter and over the phone.
  • Building real relationships with your customers.
  • Using our computer system to enter and complete sales orders.
  • Handling cash sales transactions.
  • Developing deep product knowledge so you can give solid advice.
  • Working with our outside sales reps and managers on strategy.
  • Answering customer questions and overcoming any hesitations about a purchase.

The basics we need from you

  • A high school diploma or GED is required. A four year degree is a nice plus.
  • You can manage yourself, show initiative, and you're comfortable meeting new people all day.
  • You pay strong attention to detail and keep things organized.

The physical side of things

This is an office based role. You'll be at a desk about half the time but moving around frequently to grab files or use equipment like printers. You need to operate basic office machinery and communicate effectively with your team. Mentally, you'll be problem solving, prioritizing tasks, and managing stress from deadlines. Multitasking is part of the deal. You receive information, analyze it quickly, and communicate solutions when issues pop up. Sound judgment and initiative are key.
