About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Senior Field Service Technician on the Electrical Power Services team in Omaha, NE. If you've spent years getting your hands dirty with electrical testing and you're ready to handle the complex stuff while helping guide others, this might be your spot.
What you'll do
You'll be the person our clients rely on to keep their power running safely and efficiently. That means traveling to their sites; about 25% of the time, mostly regional; to work on everything from routine checks to complicated troubleshooting.
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and start up electrical systems, collecting all the necessary data.
- The equipment list is long: low, medium, and high voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, automatic transfer switches, cable installations, transformers, relays, motor control centers. You'll maintain it, test it, repair it.
- Commission protection and control systems on high voltage substations.
- Supervise Trainees, Assistants, and other Technicians. You'll assign work based on skill level and make sure testing is consistent across the crew.
- Start up and repair generator controls and transfer schemes.
- Sample and interpret insulated fluids.
- A big part of the job is documentation. You'll complete Job Hazard Analyses for arc flash and shock risks, document every test result in field reports, review timecards and expenses, and track project scope.
- You'll also rotate through emergency on call duty.
What you need to have
This isn't an entry level gig. We need someone who's been in the trenches and knows their way around a multimeter and a set of safety protocols.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands on experience in electrical testing is mandatory.
- You've worked on projects before, both independently and with a team.
- A clean driving record is required; you'll need to be drug free as well.
- You must know lockout/tag out and hazardous energy control procedures inside and out.
- Troubleshooting electrical performance issues can't be a mystery to you.
- Familiarity with NETA Acceptance & Maintenance Testing Standards and NFPA70E Electrical Safety standards is essential for doing the job right; and safely.
The extras we'd love to see
The more certs you have under your belt here at ABM Industries (NYSE: ABM), the better. It shows you're serious about your craft. Holding a current NETA Level 2 or higher certification would put you right at the front of the line. The same goes for NICET certification or equivalent experience that proves you know your stuff beyond just time served in Omaha, NE or elsewhere within our 350+ offices across multiple countries serving over 20k clients worldwide annually generating revenue approaching $8 billion since our founding back in nineteen oh nine when things were simpler but less interesting probably maybe I don’t know I wasn’t there anyway where was I?
