What You'll Be Doing
This role is for a Personal Injury Litigation Attorney who wants real ownership over their caseload. You won't just be pushing paper. You'll handle cases from intake all the way through resolution, working on matters involving workplace and employment injuries. The firm has been at this for over 40 years, representing injury victims throughout central Illinois, and they've collected more than half a billion dollars for clients in personal injury and workers' compensation cases.
- Independently manage a full docket of personal injury and employment injury cases.
- Conduct thorough case investigations, fact gathering, and legal research.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and pre- or post trial documents.
- Represent clients in hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Keep clients in the loop with regular communication about case progress.
- Work closely with supervising partners, paralegals, and legal assistants to keep things moving efficiently.
- Sit in on strategy discussions and help shape the firm's litigation best practices.
- Uphold the firm's values around integrity, advocacy, and community engagement.
What You Need to Bring
The firm is looking for someone with a solid mix of experience and drive. Here's what they're after:
- A Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- A license to practice law in Illinois ; must be active and in good standing.
- Between 3 and 15 years of litigation or trial experience. Personal injury or employment related work is preferred.
- Experience representing clients before the Illinois Industrial Commission or similar administrative bodies is a plus ; but not required if you don't have it yet.
- Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills that show up in your work every day.
- Solid organizational habits with real attention to detail; you're not someone who lets things slip through the cracks.
- A self starter attitude. You're motivated but also thrive when collaborating with others on a team.
- A commitment to continuous learning ; including participating in professional development resources available here ; plus some interest in community involvement through the firm's philanthropic initiatives focused on social justice and public service.
The Pay & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 per year based on experience. On top of that:
