What you'd actually be doing here

This is a front line role at a private aviation terminal in Omaha, NE ; you're the person guests and crew members see from the moment an aircraft arrives to the moment it departs. You'll work as part of a team handling airside operations safely and efficiently, following established policies and standard operating procedures. Communication is constant ; you'll use radios, phones, and in person conversations to coordinate tasks with team members, guests, clients, vendors, and aircraft crewmembers to make sure every service need is covered.

Services you'll handle include fueling, de icing, lavatory service, ground power and potable water, aircraft parking, marshalling, wing walking, delivering catering, and towing. You'll operate ground service equipment like fuel trucks, de icing trucks, ground power units, tugs, and stair trucks. Loading and unloading luggage and cargo from aircraft into guest vehicles, the terminal, or other transportation is part of the job too. You'll also drive a shuttle vehicle to transport guests, luggage, and cargo around the airfield.

Expect to prepare for arriving and departing aircraft proactively ; identifying open tasks and jumping in. If you see something unsafe, you speak up immediately to whoever needs to hear it. You'll follow emergency response procedures during critical events. You'll also handle fuel quality control, fuel receipts, inventory, and keep accurate documentation. Security protocols ; physical, cyber, and data ; as dictated by Signature Aviation and the airport apply every day. And you'll create accurate records for time worked and services performed.

What you need to bring

You need a High School Diploma or GED. You must be at least 18 years old. You'll have to pass company background checks ; both criminal and motor vehicle ; plus drug tests, and meet the airport's background check requirements to get and keep an airport security badge. You also need to be insurable by the company's insurance policies. Legally authorized to work in the jurisdiction of employment, obviously.

  • Excellent vision and coordination ; you'll be moving and directing aircraft and visually inspecting aviation fuel
  • Must pass a color vision test for inspecting aviation fuel
  • A valid state driver's license is required. In some locations a commercial driver's license (CDL) is required depending on local rules and business needs.
  • Good judgment and the ability to follow directions from supervisors and management
  • Preferable: Three to six months of experience or training in aviation, customer service, or a related field ; or an equivalent mix of education, experience, and training

Other skills that matter

Hospitality skills: You need excellent guest service instincts with an energetic, outgoing personality. You should genuinely care about anticipating what guests need before they ask. You'll be multitasking constantly in a busy environment, so keeping priorities straight is essential. Professionalism and confidentiality are non negotiable.

Language skills: You need to read and understand documents like safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals ; all in English, especially for safety sensitive tasks. You'll communicate clearly in English in person, over the phone, via radio, and in writing.

Math skills: You should be comfortable with simple arithmetic ; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions.

Schedule and pay

This role requires schedule flexibility. You'll work nights, weekends, and holidays. You'll be outdoors around active aircraft in all kinds of weather conditions. Pay range isn't listed in the original posting ; ask the hiring manager directly for compensation details.
